Today I was given a task to talk something about optimism in a huddle.
Well, I summarize the reading so it sounds more or less like this:
Optimism can give people an energy to do things better as it makes people to focus on possibilities rather than on consequences. Moroever, the good news is if you are not an optimist person, you can always learn to be more optimistic as optimism is about a habit. So, the more you make yourself get used of the habit, the more optimistic you become.
There are 3 steps to make us becoming a more optimistic person.
1. Challenge the doom predictions
Sometimes we become pessimistic without a clear evidence. Therefore, next time we are about becoming pessimistic, we should challenge this by saying something like:"Why do I think I can't?", "How do I really know it's true", etc. By doing so, we will be open to more possibilities
2. Choose a better outcome
If we are countered by something new for the 1st time, we will not do it well. It's about learning by doing. However, the more frequent we do it, the more expert we will become. Practice makes perfect.
3. Focus on the why
We should focus on the why. eg:"Why this will never work", "Why am I this or that"
It's better if we focus on a positive why eg: "Why I have to finish this?", "Why I have to be expert in that". By doing so, we will be more optimistic in achieving our goals.
Afterall, positive things happen to positive people. May we all become positive to make us become a better person.
Good morning all! Have a great day! ^^
